DRUGS: A Review of Related Literature

For the research we had done entitled "Factors Affecting The Increasing Numbers of Drug Abuse Cases in Cuyapo."

“Drug and substance abuse has been talked about worldwide and Kenya is a part of the globe.” (Ongwae, 2016). “Thus, there is a need to curb this vice.” (Ongwae, 2016).

Drug abuse is a very popular social issue not only here in our country, but also around the globe. It is an issue where everyone is being disturb by its mere presence and due to that, many countries were forced to act to stop this social issue.

“Drug abuse is a major public health among youth worldwide especially in developing countries.” (Nyatuoro, 2012). “Thus, drug abuse-related problems among the youth cannot be ignored.” (Nyatuoro, 2012).

The social issue, drug abuse, affects the world population’s health drastically. It is a very powerful issue that negates not only our physical and mental health, but our society as a whole due to its disturbing effects.

“Effects of drug abuse are diverse. They range from individual to societal effects such as poor health, poor personal hygiene, homosexuality, high school drop-out rate, high-divorce rate, and increased crime.” (Kasundu et. al., 2012).

Drug abuse is too powerful as a health issue and as a social issue, for this issue affects our physical, emotional, and mental health. We all know that when we are in the state of mental suffering, all sorts of things can happen, even the disastrous ones. Through that reason, it should be stopped as soon as possible.

“Mere law enforcement activities will be ineffective in curbing the prevalent drug abuse if its root causes will not properly addressed. With this, there is a need to know the causes of drug abuse as a framework in re-aligning the prevention and rehabilitation program to ensure its effectiveness.” (Caday, 2017).

If an issue/problem will be solved in its present state, it will not be enough. Therefore, we need to go to its roots or causes for us to act even before the problem bursts out. But in cases wherein the abuse was already done, looking for the very reasons or causes would be a big help to formulate a solution that will be directed towards the very reasons or causes.

“Every family is vulnerable to drug abuse by children regardless of lack of adequate time for socialization amongst family members control abuse among children, drug abuse among children can start as early years of age. It was concluded that drug abuse can be eradicate collaboration between families, community, government and hospitals that it has been recommended that children should go to school roaming around, be involved in sports to avoid idling, be selective in interpersonal peers, and be inspired with parents’ ideals and ethics.” (Matowo, 2013).

There is a solution for drug abuse if we will just look into the root causes of this social issue. It should really be stopped as soon as possible because this issue affects many aspects of the society such as family. This issue is not a joke and it is not just an ordinary one to deal with. There are many solutions to come up with, we just need to choose, and in choosing, we should look for the root causes for us to know what needs to be directed by our preferred solution.
